Tailgate gear is a necessity when you go out for a great tailgating event. Sort of like camping, barbecuing, and picnicking all rolled into to one with a huge sports game added on, this is no picnic as they say. On top of this is the social fun of being out with a bunch of other people just as excited and hungry as you. So you'll definitely need to prepare just like the athletes to be ready for the big day.

Although the name may lead the uninformed to believe different, this is not just sitting on the back truck drinking beer and eating cold hot dogs. No - some people setups are like a full-on restaurant. While you don't have to go quite this far in your own space (though no one would mind if you did), you'll still need a few things to make sure food gets cooked and everyone is comfortable.

Beginning with the latter, get a few good sports chairs for everyone. These are comfortable, collapsible, and tough items that are meant to be used frequently and outside. Additionally, most models have drink holders and side tables that flip up to hold glasses and plates instead of having to balance them on your lap.

Next, get a good cooler to hold drinks and any meats. Raw meat can be prone to food poisoning so this is not a time to penny pinch. Plus, who wants to drink warm soda or beer.

Finally, have a good portable grill on hand, preferably a gas grill. With these on hand, you can cook most things and relax while you're at it.
