Portable Electric Coolers

Portable electric coolers are the latest line of products that have made eating in the outdoors much easier than ever before. Essentially, a mini-fridge mixed with an ice chest, these models add benefits and take away many of the drawbacks of their predecessors. Basically, these models are insulated with heavy plastic to keep cold air in and hot air out just like any other insulated model would do. However, these units also chill themselves when plugged into your car's electrical outlet as a fridge would do.

This is a great benefit, because unlike an ice chest, these models don't have the ice, but have the same ability to keep the temperature low and even. With an ice chest, there is a lot of extra weight from the ice. It also crushes delicate foods and soaks anything that isn't tightly sealed. After using them, you then have to clean out the mess of extra water and ice, then dry out the interior. It is just simply a lot of work. However, these units keep food very cold, so they are superior to simply insulated models.

Electrical models take all the negatives away without taking away any positives. Everything stays cold, there's no ice, no mess, no extra weight, and many models even come with shoulder straps and carrying case for easy transportation. These models do have the unfortunate drawback of needing a chilling time, unlike an ice chest. Furthermore, they contain electrical parts so extra care should be taken when using them.

They do, however, come in a great variety of sizes and colors.
