Picnic Table Designs

It's surprising, but there is a large variety of picnic table designs that are well worth looking into to find the right one for your home, beach house, or even a quick getaway. Depending upon what context you would like your table in, will determine what type of look and feel you want to match either your home or elsewhere. Also, if you plan on moving or taking the table apart and setting it up only every now and then, you'll need to consider the practicality of any design.

There is, of course, the traditional bench table. Very simply designed and found in both metal and wood in parks the world over, this is perhaps the quintessential stock table. It may be convenient for your home and many people enjoy the simple look or wood. Good for backyards, especially when you have a lot of people around who will be using it often.

However, you can have a bit more flexibility with a table that has movable chairs. Models of this type can be found with both rectangular and circular designs. These add a bit of comfort and dexterity as people can recline and add space as needed.

Choosing between a circular and rectangular model basically comes down to space versus intimacy. Rectangles are much more efficient, but circular models put people closer together and have a less "park-ish" and more homely feel to them. Plus everyone is equidistant so no one is stuck at the end shouting down.

Finally, there are collapsible tables. These are usually a bit smaller with folding legs and come in a variety of forms. Use these if you plan on taking your picnic somewhere new.
