Picnic Shelters

Picnic shelters may sound a little odd. I mean after all, you are out picnicking because the weather is nice, so it's not like you're going to get rained on or anything. While this may be true these items are not solely to prevent you and your food from getting wet. Instead they serve a couple purposes and come in a variety of models that are great for sunny days.

Probably the primary purpose of these units is to shield the sun. While of course you want nice sun when you're out picnicking, you may not want it shinning right in your eyes. Furthermore, if it is an especially hot day, when the sun hits you, it'll get even hotter. Along these same lines, you'll want to prevent any sunburns as well, especially helpful if you plan on being out for most of the day.

Another purpose is to stop bugs. Some of these shelters are like small tents with translucent walls to let the light and air in, but keep the bugs out. If you're out camping or you live near bodies of water aside from the ocean, mosquitoes can be a real nuisance. When you have a late evening picnic, these little guys can spoil the whole thing, so it's a very big plus to have netting to keep them out. The same goes for curious bees attracted to your food.

These models come in many shapes and sizes. It's best to think of your table and chairs and fit it around them with a little extra space to move around, especially if you plan on purchasing a netted model.
