Picnics
Picnics are perhaps one of the best ways to enjoy great food in the incredible Summer, Spring, or just any beautiful day's weather. Combining delicious food with the outdoors brings an excitement to whatever you eat and you feel healthier out in the sun. Best of all, you're usually spending the time with friends and family, bonding over a now less and less common meal that is always memorable. Still how does one have a good one? While there are no tried and true rules to having a great meal outdoors, there are a few ideas to keep in mind.
Pick good food that will carry well and is best served cold. It may seem a bit limiting to be eating only cold food, but there are tons of different types of foods out there that taste delicious cold. The meal can even turn into a culinary adventure as you try at a variety of foods that you may have overlooked. Sandwiches are probably the most common standby, but even these can be spiced up a bit with huge plethora of breads and meats now available in many supermarkets. Also, many large chains and specialty grocers now carry many imported cheese that are always fun to try.
Accessorize to help you get comfortable. Obviously, you'll need to carry your food in something, but using a hamper made for picnicking is very helpful as it can keep your food as well as store your plates and utensils. Additionally, a good blanket made for picnicking will make sitting on the ground much more comfortable.
