Picnic Plates

Picnic plates are a special set of dishware items that are made especially for going out picnicking. They'll most likely be of a more durable and less fancy material, but this is to the benefit of picnicking since they'll be less likely to break and if they do, it's no giant loss. You can usually find these items in sets of both small and large dishware packages. These sets usually come with both small and large dishes together. The small ones can be used for children or for side dishes as well. There are not often bowls as soup is not usually a featured item, but some sets can be found with these included. You can also find divided dishes that segment the plate. This can be helpful to children, but is also good for adults especially if there is a lot of variety at the table in dishes especially with foods like baked beans that spread out when put down.

Another option to consider is serving plates. These can be much larger dishes, like Thanksgiving dish, but not as fancy or a dish that holds items like salsa or other less stackable foods well. Again, these aren't intended to be too expensive looking and are made intentionally for just dropping food and letting people dig in. Some kits come with these in addition to a normal set of small and large dishes.
