Picnic Blankets
Picnic blankets make a day out enjoying a meal in the park, camping, or at the beach a bunch more comfortable affair. Most people do have a favorite one at home, but the new lines of blankets available aren't just a warm, soft spot to set down. These new models provide ease of transportation and stamina that a simple sheet simply can't provide.
First off, nowadays any type you get, and there are very many, will most likely have a waterproof base. It's simply a matter of experience that often a patch of grass that feels dry to the touch, may, after an hour, feel damp when you sit up from it. This moisture soaks into your blanket and aside from needing to wash it afterwards, can cause it to fall apart more quickly as time goes on. The waterproof base does more than prevent this problem. It additionally adds a layer of protection from loose material like sand and dirt that can easily become lodge in the fibers of a normal sheet.
Second, models these days are conveniently transportable. Not that a sheet of fabric is that difficult to get around to begin with, but newer models have made the process simpler. The most basic is a roll up model that is held in place with Velcro straps and has a shoulder strap. These end up looking like a duffel bag. Another option, folds into a flat tight square. These essentially look like a small briefcase. The latter is superior for storage, but is a little more difficult to fold up.
