Outdoor Coolers
Outdoor coolers are a must for any culinary excursion outside. Since you don't have the benefit of electricity to provide you a fridge, but you still need to keep most of your food cold, you'll need some sort of unit to do this. There are luckily a few different options available that have both benefits and drawbacks. All of which still have the same purpose of making sure your food is delicious and fresh when you finally eat it.
An ice chest is the most common model. These units are thick plastic units that seal tightly and keep cold air inside. You fill them with ice before heading out and they will hold the low temperature for a decent amount of time, enough to safely eat. Afterwards, you can dump the ice and excess water with little trouble. These units are however very heavy and awkward to move around, so the type of food you are eating and where you are traveling will greatly affect your choice in using one of these. If you have food that requires a constant low temp, like raw meat, then you'll definitely need one of these.
However, if you are just looking to keep vegetables and other sorts of fresh food cool then an insulated bag will do the job with very little weight or effort involved. Essentially, keeping cold food cold and hot air out, these are convenient containers that keep things chilled without chilling them. They are light and portable, usually folding up when no longer in use.
