Office Picnic
An office picnic is more than just way to get outside, enjoying the weather and chomping down on some good food. It's a chance for fellow employees to become more familiar with one another in a casual environment without the pressures of the workplace weighing them down. Many of these events let's families come along as well, so it's a place where spouses and children can make new friends that they might have not known otherwise.
Yet such an event can be a bit of a problem to organize. There are a lot of people with a lot of backgrounds, and when it comes to food especially this can be a huge hassle. Fortunately, you can cover a lot of diets with a few simple options. A good spread of traditional American foods like burgers and chicken are good choices, however you can also offer veggie dogs and grilled vegetables for vegetarians, vegans, and people on low fat diets as well.
Activities can be a central part of the festivities, but these shouldn't be so intense to distract from the fun. These should be traditional activities like the egg race, water balloon toss, or the three-legged race, all of which also build a sense of teamwork.
Pick a location that is near your company's offices so that everyone is familiar with the territory and has access to it rather than just an exotic location that may be hard for people without cars who use public transportation to get to.
With these few ideas in mind, you'll be on your way to have a fun day with co-workers.
