Disposable Picnic Baskets

A disposable picnic basket isn't something you see very often. You could of course throw away your basket after each use (easy clean up!), but this isn't practical or good for the environment. So unless you plan on using a plastic bag or recyclable bag like a paper grocery sack, you'll probably be holding onto it for a while. However, you will come across baskets that are intended for single use, but these will most likely be in the form of food caddies and other such items that are given to you along with another purchase. Many of these are recyclable, so be mindful of chances to reduce waste with a single use item.

These products will usually be insulating in some manner. Usually made to keep your hot food hot and separated from your cold food, it's unlikely you'll be traveling far once you receive one of these. However, it's much better than a big and a bit more practical carrying it than a Styrofoam box.

Additionally, much of what goes inside of a basket is disposable. Many people stock up on fresh foods at a grocery store or delicatessen before heading out for a picnic and many of these products come in ready to serve containers that makes moving them around much easier. Items like silverware and napkins are often disposable as well and people often bring these instead of regular plates and silverware because they are much lighter and less valuable in case they are lost.

Regardless, it's best to try and reduce your consumption by either using recyclable products or non-disposable items.
