A camping picnic basket is a bit different than your standard basket used for your local park. For an accessory that's being taken out into the woods, beach, or wherever you're headed, you'll need a bit more durability and convenience than if you were just going a short drive away. Issues like storage capacity, toughness, and food preservation are extremely important when your home isn't nearby and you're depending upon your unit to help feed you and not inconvenience your trip as well. So there are few things to keep in mind when you're out looking for one.

To begin with, look for one that is going to be tough. This means thick straps and material that isn't going to easily crack. Many wicker baskets are beautiful to look at and enjoy, but their wood can crack easily. Better to get a thick fabric blend that is not only sturdy, but can also keep out water and other troublesome outdoor substances. Same goes for any straps or handles as well. If you choose a model with wheels, make sure they are also thick with a lot of traction so that they are useful as well as long lasting.

Find a model with cooler inside or insulating fabric. Your food will most likely be traveled when camping so it has greater risk to being damaged by heat and other elements. Using an insulating fabric will prevent most spoilage and is very important if you happen to have any raw meats therein.

Finally, choose one you like the look of. Hopefully, you'll be spending a lot of time with it, so you'll want to enjoy looking at it.
