Beach Picnic
A beach picnic is probably one of the most enjoyable picnicking experiences out there. You have the fresh air, a cool breeze, and a relaxing view of a lake, river, or the ocean that is always a calming sight. However, picnicking on the beach can come with its own set of problems and benefits that should be considered before heading out to the water's edge.
Probably the most obvious difficulty when heading down to the beach is the sand. Sand gets in everything and is light so it is blown all over the place when there's any wind. So it is a good idea to check the weather before heading out for a picnic. You may not mind the sand when it's blowing in your face while walking along the beach, however once it's in your food, you may have more of a problem with it. This also means you'll need a good beach blanket. Models that have a waterproof bottom are especially good for the sand since they prevent sand and other debris from becoming lodged in the blanket. Sand that gets under a regular blanket can take an awful lot of work to effectively shake out.
Aside from this difficulty, along the water is a wonderful spot to sit and enjoy yourself. Consider light foods that can be snacked on throughout the day as usually there is a lot of other activity taking place. Don't choose to heavy of foods though since they'll weigh you down while you enjoy the water and the sand.
